56 members attended the AGM with many more arriving for the prize giving.
The AGM was expertly chaired by our joint club secretary Ross Davies.
Both Jane and Richard spoke about their year before handing over to the new Captains Sue Dale and Bill Walker.
Sue was presented with the ladies brooch and Richard presented Bill with the Green Jacket.
Sue thanked Jane and Debby for making her transition into Lady Captain a smooth process as well as thanking Jane and Richard for their fund raising efforts.
Sue spoke about this year being our 50th Anniversary and holding special events to celebrate this milestone. The anniversary golf day will be on bank holiday Monday 25th May and the 50th Summer Party on 25th July.
Sue announced that The Alexander Devine Childrem’s Hospice would be the charity partner for the year and looked forward to us all supporting this very worthwhile charity.
Bill likewise thanked Jane and Richard for all of their efforts both from a charity fund raising standpoint as well as from a committee point of view.
Bill stressed that the club was successful due to the team effort be it the committee, Get Golfing, roll ups and of course the members.
Bill announced the appointment of Greg Douglas as Vice Captain, who could not attend the meeting due to being on holiday.
Like Sue, Bill was looking forward to his Captains away event taking place over 3 days at the Players Club.
The target for the Charity was set at £15k to do the normal events plus a few more.
In addition it could be possible to raise another £15k due to Get Golfing allowing Bill and Sue to get hole sponsorship.
Spread the word single sponsorship £1500, dual sponsorship £750 and triple £500 plus cost of signage £60
Asprirationally could we get £50k in our 50th Year!!
Bill announced the creation of a new competition which would be run over 7 days in order to get as many participants as possible.
The 50th Anniversary Charity Cup ….could we get 100 players at an entrance fee of £10 making £1000 for Alexander Devine.
Prize Giving followed the AGM and congratulations go to all winners especially the Club Championship winners namely Paul Raines, Pamela King and Tony Twelftree
