Remembrance Day Trophy Sunday 16th Nov

A message from our Captain

I am writing this article on Remembrance Day and want to thank you all for signing up to this event. I am delighted to report that we have a full field for the day so lets hope the weather plays ball as well.

Tee times are all listed on Golf Genius under Mixed Fixtures.

Since putting up the posters for the event the committee met and outlined historically that the event was solely for the prize of winning the Poppy Day trophy in order to maximise proceeds to charity.

I have therefore decided to go with the normal process albeit the winning players will still get a bottle of wine each from me.

While this competition is a mixed Texas Scramble not all teams are mixed, so for clarity these are the ground rules.

In each team of 4, any one player must take at least 4 drives within the round.

Men play off of black tees and ladies off of gold tees.

For male and mixed teams their handicap will be taken off the men’s par of 72, for the single ladies team their score will also be taken off 72, effectively giving them a courtesy shot.

The winners will be the team with the lowest score.

Team scorecards will be made out and presented in the clubhouse before teams head out, in exchange for the £10 donation per player (£40 for the team)

Handicaps will be double checked Sunday morning.

On the day in addition to the donations there will be an auction for 2 items: a 4 ball voucher at Mill Green Golf Club donated by Get Golfing and a voucher for a carpet cleaning service donated by Joe Hazell.

Additionally on the day there will be a raffle for those that like a flutter with a wide selection of prizes to win.

All proceeds on the day will be going to the Veterans Foundation one of the country’s fastest growing military charities who work with hundreds of smaller charities across the UK to provide a better life for veterans or their families. If you would like to know more of their work here is the link

Please bring cash on the day

Thank you
